Home and Community Based Services

For more than 50 years, Independence Association community supports have successfully assisted people with disabilities who wish to live inclusively in their communities of choice. Home and Community Based Services (HCBS) are tailored to the goals and abilities of the individuals served. Activities typically take place in chosen community locations. Popular activities include:

  • Volunteer service -- delivering Meals on Wheels or making dog beds for a shelter

  • Community outings with friends -- from live theater to demolition derbies

  • Healthy living activities -- we "Commit to BeFit" with walking, active sports, healthy meal preparation

  • Creative expression -- visual arts, music and more, sometimes taught by peers from our art studios

EnvisionME, Community Works, the Chatty Goose Cafe, and our spindleworks art studio are primary launching points for home and community based services.
