BRUNSWICK (June 8, 2017) -- Since 2007, funding cuts and inflation have reduced by 21% the value of the state reimbursements paid to organizations like us for our services. Those cuts make it hard for us to pay direct services staff what their quality work is worth. In the meantime, a red-hot Maine economy has driven unemployment to record lows and is pushing even the corner store to raise pay. People who would love to do our jobs are deciding they can't afford to. Executive Director Ray Nagel details why LD967 is essential to maintain our quality services to people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
