Community Living is a program of people living independently in their own apartments and interdependently in a setting which provides socialization and community interaction.  Our program provides Home Supports to assist each individual with their goals as outlined in their Person-Centered Plan (PCP) and to embrace their ability to be independent.  The Chatty Goose is a gathering spot which provides Community Supports to our individuals, and assists them to embrace their ability to be part of a group that shares the same attitudes, interests and goals.

Supportive Homes, Daily Living Skills

The Community Living program emphasizes habilative skill-based training and acquisition.  Services  include support around learning, maintaining and enhancing an individual’s daily living skills in areas including but not limited to assistance with budgeting, banking, meal planning, grocery shopping, laundry, medical, dental and any other needed appointments as well as health and safety. The goal of the Community Living Program is to foster independence so that we may gradually fade our support services as the person achieves independence and community inclusion.  Social opportunities are a natural part of the program.  We strive to link the people we support with community members and activities to build healthy relationships and achieve the highest level of independence. The success of our support services is due to the partnership between the people we support and our highly skilled team of Direct Support Professionals and Mental Health Rehabilitation Technicians.  Our skill based programs are based on the desires and needs identified by the person we support.  This strengths based, person centered approach to teaching provides maximum opportunity for the people we support to achieve their goal of community inclusion. One of the exciting program offerings is our new Chatty Goose program.

Subsidized Apartments

We have two subsidized apartment buildings where we provide more intensive skill training.  One is a section 8 funded subsidy and the other is a HUD funded subsidy.  Both are located in downtown Brunswick. If you want more info please call our Community Living program manager at 207 504-5686.

In Home Support

Our program also offers home support skill training in private residences in and around the greater Brunswick area.  Services are provided to adults with Intellectual Disabilities who reside in their own home.  Those seeking home support who live with their families or other care givers may receive  In Home Support services. Eligibility for the housing subsidies is determined via an application process.  Home Support Services are funded by Maine Care section 21 waiver.  Referrals may be made directly to the agency.  Funding is required prior to acceptance.
