Advocacy

We know that many families, friends and community leaders are looking for answers to help them navigate supporting individuals with developmental disabilities. We are sharing our knowledge and resources that we have gathered through the years that have helped our staff, board members, families and others in their quest to help those they love and care for. It makes good sense but it is also the right thing to do! Independence Association believes it is vital to support all people who are out there on the front lines looking for answers and help concerning individuals with developmental disabilities. Advocacy and Education fits directly with the core of our mission “Assisting Adults and Children with disabilities in obtaining a full and inclusive life in their chosen community.” This page is dedicated to all who are in search of helping make this mission true in their own lives and the lives of those they love. Please feel free to use them and print them.   If you have further questions that are not answered here please feel free to contact us at info@iaofmaine.org. We will get the question to the appropriate person and get back to you. Furthermore at times we hold symposiums and events to inform the community of what is happening from State and Federal governments concerning the individuals and families we serve. If you wish to be informed of these events send an email stating you would like to be added to our mailing list for informational symposiums and events to Dennis St. Pierre at dstpierre@iaofmaine.org .
